Riding history: Riding created in 1853. No change in 1988 and 1992 redistributions.
In 2001 redistribution, kept 71 per cent of riding; 29 per cent moved to new Mirabel riding.

| 1976 | Parti Québécois's Pierre de Bellefeuille defeated Liberal L'Allier. |
| 1981 | Parti Québécois's de Bellefeuille defeated Liberal Yvon Belair. Left PQ caucus to sit as an Independent on Nov. 20, 1984, one of several to leave after René Lévesque stated that sovereignty should not be an issue in the next campaign. |
| 1985 | Liberal Yolande Legault defeated Parti Québécois's Yves Lauzon. Pierre de Bellefeuille, running for the Parti Indépendantiste, was third with 2,274 votes. |
