1981, 1985 and 1989

Liberal Lise Bacon defeated Parti Québécois's Judy Ann Scott. Bacon was elected in Bourassa in 1973; defeated there in 1976. Bacon had been minister of state for social affairs; minister of consumers, co-operatives and financial institutions; minister of immigration. She was re-elected in 1985 and 1989. Appointed deputy premier, 1985; minister of cultural affairs, December 1985 - October 1989; minister responsible for application of the French Language Charter, 1985, and minister responsible for human resources and minister of environment, Dec. 21, 1988. Appointed deputy premier, minister of energy and resources and minister responsible for regional development, Oct. 11, 1989. Bacon announced her resignation on Jan 11, 1994, the same day Daniel Johnson was sworn in as premier. The by-election that was called for Aug. 29 was cancelled with the election call. On Sept. 14, 1994, she was appointed to the Canadian Senate.

1994

Liberal Thomas Mulcair defeated Parti Québécois's Lidi Costache.

1998

Liberal Mulcair defeated Parti Québécois's Monia Prévost.

2003

Liberal Mulcair defeated Parti Québécois's Coline Chhay. Announced he would not run again on Feb. 20, 2007, in order to run federally for the New Democratic Party.

2007

Liberal Guy Oulette defeated Action Démocratique du Québec's Phani Papachristou.
