It contains the following municipalities: Courcelles, Lac-Poulin, La Guadeloupe, Notre-Dame-des-Pins, Ste-Aurélie, St-Benjamin, St-Benoît-Labre, Ste-Clotilde-de-Beauce, St-Côme-Linière, St-Éphrem-de-Beauce, St-Évariste-de-Forsyth, St-Gédéon, St-Gédéon-de-Beauce, St-Georges, St-Hilaire-de-Dorset, St-Honoré-de-Shenley, St-Ludger, St-Martin, St-Philibert, St-Prosper, St-René, St-Robert-Bellarmin, St-Simon-les-Mines, St-Théophile and St-Zacharie.

Riding history: Riding first existed in 1973 election and was created from parts of Beauce, Dorchester, Frontenac and Mégantic ridings.

In redistribution before 1989 election, lost small part of riding to Beauce-Nord.

1995 sovereignty referendum: No - 57.54 per cent; Yes - 42.46 per cent

1973

Parti Créditiste candidate Fabien Roy defeated Liberal Paul-H. Lacasse by 895 votes. Roy served as leader of Parti Créditiste from 1973-1974. Expelled from party Nov. 3, 1975. Founded Parti National Populaire, with Jérôme Choquette.

1976

Roy, now with the Parti National Populaire, defeated Liberal Guy Lebel. Roy resigned seat on April 5, 1979. Liberal Hermann Mathieu was elected in byelection held on Nov. 14, 1979.

1981, 1985 and 1989

Liberal Mathieu defeated Parti Québécois's Bernard Mathieu by 97 votes. Liberal Robert Dutil won in 1985 and 1989. Served as minister responsible for fisheries; minister responsible for health and social services; minister responsible for family, health and social services; minister of communications and minister of supply and services.

1994

Liberal Paul-Eugene Quirion defeated Parti Québécois's Paul-Andre Busque by 164 votes. After the death of Quirion, a by-election was called for April 28, 1997.

April 28, 1997, by-election

Liberal Diane Leblanc defeated Parti Québécois's Richard Busque.

2003

Liberal Leblanc defeated Action Démocratique du Québec's Claude Lemieux by 1,308 votes.

2007

Action Démocratique du Québec's Claude Morin defeated Liberal Leblanc.
