Arthabaska contains the following municipalities: Chester-Est, Chesterville, Norbertville, Plessisville, Princeville, St-Christophe-d'Arthabaska, Sainte-Hélène-de-Chester, St-Norbert-d'Arthabaska, St-Rosaire, St-Valère and Victoriaville.

Riding history: Riding first existed in 1890 election

In redistribution before the 1989 election, eight per cent of the riding was moved to Richmond.

Liberal Gilles Masse won in 1970 and 1973. Served as minister of natural resources, 1970-76. Did not run in 1976.

1981

Parti Québécois's Jacques Baril won in 1976 and 1981.

1985

Liberal Laurier Gardner defeated Parti Québécois's Bruno St-Pierre.

1989

Parti Québécois's Baril ran again and defeated Liberal Gardner.

1994

Parti Québécois's Baril defeated Liberal Madeleine Dusseault.

1998

Parti Québécois's Baril defeated Liberal Jacques Lamontagne. Minister for transport, Dec. 15, 1998 to March 8, 2001; appointed minister responsible for Centre-du-Québec region, Dec. 15, 1998; appointed minister for transport and maritime policy, March 8, 2001. Baril announced on Nov. 17, 2002, he would not be running again.

2003

Liberal Claude Bachande defeated Action Démocratique du Québec's Alain Rayes.

2007

Action Démocratique du Québec's Jean-François Roux defeated Liberal Bachande.
