Air Canada charges extra if you check more than one piece of luggage:

Air Canada, US Airways and West Jet are now charging a fuel tax:
2.) Fact: Air Canada introduced fuel surcharges of $40 return for flights of less than 480 kilometres, $80 return on flights between 480 kilometres and 1,600 kilometres and $120 for longer flights. WestJet followed suit by boosting ticket prices for short-haul flights by $20, and adding $30 for medium-range flights, and $45 for long-haul flights. Liquids allowed on board in carry-on luggage can't be more than 100 ml:
