MP Helena Guergis is calling for a "face-to-face" meeting with Stephen Harper after the RCMP this week cleared the former Tory cabinet minister of allegations forwarded to the force by the prime minister.

In a statement Thursday, Guergis said she was relieved by the outcome, as she knew that she had done nothing wrong.

"I think it is time for a face-to-face meeting between the PM and I," she said. "He can raise his concerns, whatever they are, and I can answer. I have never been afforded this opportunity."

She added she will continue to work with federal Ethics Commissioner Mary Dawson on her own inquiry into the allegations and is "looking forward to a resolution on that end as well."

Guergis now sits as an Independent MP after she was kicked out of the Conservative caucus by Harper in April and removed as the Tory candidate in her central Ontario riding of Simcoe Grey.

In her statement, she insisted she will "continue to work hard for those who have elected me as their representative in Ottawa."

On Wednesday, the RCMP informed Guergis and her husband, former Tory MP Rahim Jaffer, that it had concluded its investigation and concluded there was no evidence of criminal wrongdoing by either of them.
