Biography
Two-time Gemini Award-winning journalist Evan Solomon is the anchor of CBC's new national political show, Power & Politics with Evan Solomon.
Solomon spent the last eight years as co-host of the Gemini Award-winning weekly news and current affairs shows CBC News: Sunday and CBC News: Sunday Night. During this run, he reported from all over Canada and around the world, on stories ranging from federal elections to the Indonesian tsunami to piracy in the Persian Gulf.
Throughout his career, Solomon has interviewed many key political players, from Prime Ministers, world leaders and a U.S. President, to the Dalai Lama, Henry Kissinger and Kofi Anan, among others. He has covered federal elections for CBC News: Sunday and been part of The National's federal election night coverage.

In addition to hosting CBC’s national political newscast, Solomon interviews key newsmakers, political pundits, CBC News contributors and other Canadians who debate the big issues, from the budget to the war in Afghanistan to the sensations and the scandals of the day.
The CBC News team plays a key role on the show, providing live reports from Parliament Hill, and covering all the important aspects of Canadian government. Award-winning journalists examine political happenings, election races, and policy fights from all over the country – made relevant to the average viewer as well as the political junkie.
Power & Politics will also broaden its reach across the online world through the new political website cbc.ca/politics: a new home base for all things political. All the news of the day from Parliament Hill and legislatures from across the country can be found here; stories at the top of the news and many other stories affecting Canadians flying just below the radar. Fronting the new online approach is Kady O’Malley, the CBC’s new resident blogger who will be driving coverage online in her tenacious freewheeling style.
