A team of NDP MPs and supporters is participating in the "Movember" campaign again this year to raise money for prostate cancer research.

This year's team captain, Quebec MP Matthew Dubé, kicked off their efforts Thursday by shaving off Nova Scotia MP Peter Stoffer's moustache in front of the cameras in the foyer of the House of Commons.

Stoffer agreed to part with his facial hair last year too, as the "New De-MO-Crat" team started its month-long pitch for donations.

Former party leader Jack Layton had prostate cancer before his death in 2011.

MPs from all parties grew facial hair in support of the cause last year.
