Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his family spent the weekend unwinding in New York City, taking in a Broadway show and a major league baseball game.

A tweet sent from the Twitter account for Broadway's Spiderman: Turn off the Dark thanked Harper for catching the Friday night show. Harper was also seen on TV in shots from the Yankees-Blue Jays game on Sunday.

A photo submitted to CBC News shows Harper in a Blue Jays ballcap and signing an autograph at the game, surrounded by security personnel.

Tom Murro, who submitted the photo, says Harper was sitting in Yankee Stadium's highly coveted Legends Suite. A website for the suite says prices start at $500 (US) per seat. It offers concierge service, a private entrance, elevator and washrooms, and in-seat wait service. The buffet menu includes lobster rolls, crab, risotto and tenderloin. Baseball standards like hotdogs are also available, but beer costs extra.

Harper's spokesman says the prime minister always pays his own way, but declined to answer further questions about the trip, saying it was a private family weekend.
