Elxn watchdog urges MPs toward "more effective" political loan reform

Earlier today, Chief Electoral Officer Marc Mayrand appeared before Procedure and House Affairs to discuss the government's proposal to tighten up the rules for political loans, which, he warned, would result in an overly complex regulatory regime that could "create an incentive ... to circumvent the rules" while still failing to provide the hoped-for 'closure' in dealing with unpaid loans.
