NDP Leader Tom Mulcair continues his tour of southwestern Ontario with a
visit to London, where he will opine on "jobs and the economy" during
an appearance at the local chamber of commerce, and then on to Toronto,
where he's set to speak at the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Convention.
Back in the capital, the Governor General plays host to visiting royals: the Earl and Countess of Wessex, who are conducting a "working visit" to Canada this week, and will attend a reception at Rideau Hall to mark the third biennial gathering of the Royal Victorian Order Association of Canada.
On the ministerial circuit:
Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver spends a second day in Charlottetown, where he and his provincial and territorial counterparts are set to wrap up their meeting later today.
Elsewhere on the Island, Nova Scotia Conservative MP Gerald Keddy dons his trade ministerial parliamentary secretary hat for a confab with "workers, business leaders and stakeholders," during which he will extol the virtues of "an ambitious Canada-EU trade agreement." He's also scheduled to unveil new funding related to the Trade Team PEI 2012-2013 calendar launch.
Finance Minister Jim Flaherty hits the good news hustings in St. John's, where he's slated to serve as guest speaker at a lunch hosted by the local board of trade.
Also out and about in Atlantic Canada: Defence Minister Peter MacKay, who will celebrate the "grand opening" of the Acadia Tidal Energy Institute in Wolfville, while his cabinet colleague Bernard Valcourt brings glad tidings to CFB Halifax.
In neighbouring New Brunswick, Fisheries Minister Keith Ashfield, who will deposit a fresh load of federal support with Fredericton-based SceneSharp Technologies before heading to St. Andrews, where he will "welcome international journalists [!] and chefs to the first-ever Canada Brand Seafood Lovers' Academy."
Meanwhile, making up for Quebec election-induced lost time, Industry Minister Christian Paradis heads to Victoriaville to chat up the local chamber of commerce.
Moving west, Aboriginal Affairs Minister John Duncan is in Edmonton to deliver "an important announcement" on First Nations economic development.
Finally, CIDA Minister Julian Fantino will make himself virtually available to the media by phone following his visit to a refugee camp offering support to those affected by the humanitarian crisis in West Africa.
