Orders of the Day - To Russia, With Love (and a stop in Vancouver)

With the APEC Leaders' Summit looming over his short-term itinerary, the PM jets off to Vancouver later this morning, where, according to the advisory, he will be interviewed by Bloomberg News this afternoon, and presumably share his hopes and fears for the upcoming confab, which gets underway in Russia this weekend.

On the other side of the country, NDP Leader Tom Mulcair is scheduled to deliver one final troop-up-whipping speech to his caucus in St. John's, where the three-day pre-parliamentary prep session is set to conclude later today.

Meanwhile, in Montebello, the Liberal caucus retreat will wrap up with a "closing press conference" by interim leader Bob Rae and party president Mike Crawley, during which the details of the proposed rules for the upcoming leadership race are expected to be unveiled.

Back on the Hill, Bloc Quebecois Leader Daniel Paille will join Bloc MP Andre Bellavance behind the microphone at the Charles Lynch Press Theatre to share their party's response to the results of the Quebec election. (I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that they're pleased, although not quite so much as would have been the case had the PQ won a majority.)

Out and about on the ministerial circuit:

Defence Minister Peter MacKay pays a visit to the HMCS Hunter facility in Windsor, where, alongside local MP Jeff Watson, he will make an announcement.

Labour Minister Lisa Raitt drops by her hometown of Sydney with fresh government funding for aboriginal business education at Cape Breton University, while in Saint John, Conservative MP Rodney Weston will attend the dedication of Wade-Myles Park and the unveiling of the Millidgeville Community Cenotaph.

Moving west, Joyce Bateman reveals new support for "agricultural innovation" at Winnipeg's Composite Innovation Centre, and on other side of Saskatchewan, Kevin Sorenson heralds the arrival of federal funding to combat homelessness in Camrose.

For up to the minute dispatches from the precinct and beyond, keep your eye on the Parliament Hill Ticker below -- or, alternatively, bookmark it and check back throughout the day.
