Orders of the Day - Cancel that traditional summer cabinet shuffle speculation!

PROGRAMMING NOTE: I've expanded and Storified the first part of today's OotD - read the new, improved version here

 On the ministerial circuit:

  • Transport Minister Denis Lebel continues to toodle through the backroads of Quebec, spreading love in the form of federally funded "financial contributions" to local businesses.

  • Today's itinerary will take him to La Pocatiere, where he will sprinkle largess on the Centre de dĂ©veloppement bioalimentaire du QuĂ©bec (CDBQ) and Novidev Inc, before wending his way to Quebec City for the launch of "a new community infrastructure fund."

  • In what are almost certainly related events, Fisheries Minister Keith Ashfield will unveil "a new infrastructure initiative to support community facilities" in Fredericton, Minister of State for Science Gary Goodyear will make "an important announcement" at the Mississauga YMCA and Lynne Yelich will do the same at the Kenaston Swimming Pool.

  • Elsewhere in New Brunswick, ACOA Minister Bernard Valcourt delivers festival funding to celebrants in Saint-Quentin, while in neighbouring Nova Scotia, Labour Minister Lisa Raitt will attend the official opening of the Dominion No. 5/10 Reserve Mines Park.

  • Back in Ontario,  Human Resources Minister Diane Finley is in London for an "important announcement" at the local employment centre, and Treasury Board President Tony Clement will be on hand to help celebrate a new affordable housing project in Bracebridge.
Finally, it appears that Elizabeth May may be the first, although almost certainly not the last, federal party leader to arrive in Calgary for the Stampede.
