Orders of the Day - Back to you, Supreme Court of Canada! (On copyright, not Etobicoke Centre, that is.)

Although there's still no word on when we can expect a decision on the electoral fate of Etobicoke Centre, all eyes will once again turn to the Supreme Court this morning in anticipation of five copyright-related decisions, including one on royalties for downloads, that are expected to drop at 9:45 am.

Back on the Hill, Minister of State for Sport Bal Gosal joins with the seemingly omnipresent Canadian Olympic Committee to reveal which athlete will carry Canada's flag at the opening ceremonies in London.

Also on the ministerial circuit today:

  • In Montreal, Transport Minister Denis Lebel -- or, at least, those responsible for drafting the media advisory -- promises "major updates" on the status of the new bridge for the St. Lawrence.
  • Elsewhere in Quebec, Jacques Gourde "awards" yet another "financial contribution" to a local business; in this case, L. Jeanson Cie Inc. in Amos.
  • Treasury Board President Tony Clement, meanwhile, is doubtless privately relieved that today's appearance in Winnipeg will be mercifully free of queries related to his views on Chinese and Cuban communism: he's scheduled to talk open data with "members of the entrepreneurial and business community" and pay a visit to AssentWorks, described as a "leading edge non-profit prototyping facility."
  • Moving west, Conservative MP Pierre Lemieux is in Calgary to announce an "investment" in "agriculture innovation" at MiForm AG Management.
  • International Trade Minister Ed Fast visits Vancouver as part of his Western Canadian consultation tour.
Finally, NDP Leader Tom Mulcair descends upon Calgary to undergo his first Stampede as Leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition.

For up to the minute dispatches from the precinct and beyond, keep your eye on the Parliament Hill Ticker below -- or, alternatively, bookmark it and check back throughout the day.
