Orders of the Day - The Victoria Break Cometh. (And just in time, too.)

As the Peace Tower clock ticks down to the May 24th-centred constituency week recess, the skeleton crew of MPs relegated to Friday House duty will spend the morning debating an NDP motion that calls on the government to "officially apologize in the House of Commons to the South Asian community and to the individuals impacted in the 1914 Komagata Maru incident, in which passengers were prevented from landing in Canada," although given what went down the last time the PM attempted to deliver retrospective regrets for the incident in question, it seems unlikely to succeed.

Outside the Chamber, Liberal MP Irwin Cotler launches "Iran Accountability Week," which, according to the advisory, is part of a "sustained advocacy campaign to draw attention to the human rights abuses suffered by the Iranian people at the hands of Ahmadinejad's regime."

Meanwhile, the PM heads south to convene with his G8 counterparts at the US presidential equivalent of Harrington Lake, Camp David. After the two-day session wraps up, it's off to Chicago for the 2012 NATO conference. 

Elsewhere on the ministerial circuit:

• Treasury Board President Tony Clement brings news of "economic growth, job creation and the importance of cutting red tape for businesses" to both the Mississauga Board of Trade and the Brantford Rotary Club, members of which he is set to address at back-to-back morning events. Also on the minister's agenda: a tour of a heritage building, and a "discussion" on reduction of the aforementioned red tape.
• Industry Minister Christian Paradis "celebrates" new funding for research projects at Thetford Mines.
• Minister of State for Sport Bal Gosal drops by the Caledon Equestrian Park to reveal more details related to the 2015 Pan American Games - presumably that some equestrian events will take place in Caledon, given the venue.
  
• Aboriginal Affairs Minister John Duncan will be on hand for the opening of a new school for St. Theresa Point First Nation.
• Citizenship and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney talks "targeted, fast and efficient immigration" at a Frontier Centre-hosted lunch in Regina.
• Canadian Heritage Minister James Moore delivers an "important", reportedly "tourism"-boosting announcement at the Vancouver International Airport.
• Human Resources Minister Diane Finley is in Mexico for the G20 Labour and Employment Ministerial Meeting.

Finally, Interim Liberal Leader Bob Rae hits the west coast for a two-day tour that will see him pop up at various party events in Vancouver and Nanaimo, including a meeting with Cowichan Tribes First Nation Grand Chief Harry Alphonse, a visit to the Komagata Maru and Museum anda Kabaddi tournament.

As for NDP Leader Tom Mulcair, as yet, no itinerary has been released for the Victoria weekend, but one assumes that he'll be out and about somewhere in Canada. Could a surprise appearance in Fort MacMurry be on the agenda? (Note: I have absolutely no inside information that would suggest that it is, but one has to think that his staff have been frantically trying to come up with some way to undo what may or may not turn out to be cumulative damage from a week of sustained criticism over his musings on the oilsands.)
