Gazouille ceci! Federal translation bureau weighs in on tweeting in French

Courtesy of observant twitterversian Steve (@YOWSteve) Cooper comes word that the Government of Canada has handed down its official "linguistic recommendations" when referring to 140 character communications -- or, as it may or may not be known from this day onward, "gazouillis". (Any resemblance to other recently trending words that begin with gaz- and end in -ebo is, one presumes, entirely unintentional.) 

Hot off the bureaucratic presses:

• gazouillis (masc. n.)  tweet (n.):    A message of up to 140 characters posted on Twitter.
  
  
• gazouiller (v.)  tweet (v.):    Post a message, called a tweet, on Twitter.
  
  
• gazouilleur (masc. n.) gazouilleuse (fem. n.)  tweeter (n.) twitterer (n.):   A Twitter account holder who reads and posts tweets.
  
  
• gazouillis partagé (masc. n.)    retweet (n.): A tweet that a user passes on to followers to share news or useful information on Twitter.
  
  
• partager un gazouillis (v.)    retweet (v.): Share a tweet posted by another user with your followers on Twitter.
