CommitteeWatch: For a Third Party, it's the little victories that count.

Hot off the Liberal caucus news wire comes a cautionary tale of what can happen when government members find themselves momentarily outnumbered by a tyrannical majority on the opposition side of the committee table -- the veterans affairs committee table, in this instance, where rookie MP Sean Casey managed to score a rare victory earlier today:

Veterans Benefit from Conservatives Being Asleep at the Switch

Liberal Veterans' Affairs Critic Sean Casey passed the following motion at the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs this morning, because the Conservatives were late for the meeting and lost the vote.
The Committee will now begin the important work of studying the impact of the over $200 M cuts to Veterans' Affairs.

That the Committee suspends its current study on "commemorating veterans" and commence hearings into the impact of the recent decision by the Conservative government to cut over 200 million dollars from the Veteran Affairs department, and that the Committee specifically assess the impact these cuts will have on programs and services to our veterans and the impact these cuts will have on staff and, that the Committee report back its findings to the House.
