Attention Canadian Wheat Board: Prepare To Be... Reorganized

The government, it seems, is getting ready to take the legislative steps necessary to usher in a new age of what the PM has described as "marketing freedom" for prairie farmers.

From the Order and Notice Paper for Monday, October 17th:

October 13, 2011 -- The Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board -- Bill entitled "An Act to reorganize the Canadian Wheat Board and to make consequential and related amendments to certain Acts".

With the threat of a strike at Air Canada now seemingly averted, at least for the moment, there's no reason why the as-yet-untitled bill couldn't be bumped to the top of the House priority list just as soon as second-reading debate on the budget bill wraps up.  As always - stay tuned!
