From backbench obscurity to star witness - Liveblogging Kelly Block at Procedure and House Affairs
- December 16, 2010 10:30 AM |
- By Kady O'Malley
Then again, since she was elected Maclean's "Rising Star" Parliamentarian of the Year for 2010, perhaps her ultimate sojourn under the spotlight was destined to arrive, although admittedly this probably wasn't quite how she -- or anyone else -- expected it to happen. In any case, as noted in OotD, after the parties concocted a last-minute deal to keep Parliament working for one more day before breaking for the holidays, it seems that the committee will, after all, get an opportunity to hear from the Conservative MP whose office is at the centre of the ongoing -- and expanding -- inquiry into the leak of the finance committee's draft report on its fall pre-budget consultations.
So, what will Ms. Block have to say about the conduct of her former staffer - - that is, that she hasn't already told the House, or the other committee, which sparked the ongoing investigation when it raised the possibility of a breach of privilege last month? Check back at 11am to find out!
