Record levels of unpopularity or not, Quebec Premier Jean Charest says
he doesn't plan to step down. Yesterday on Radio-Canada's popular
television show Tout Le Monde En Parle, Charest made his intentions
crystal clear: "I will certainly complete my mandate. And I want to do a
fourth one."
Quebec's premier has been resisting mounting pressure to call a public inquiry into allegations of corruption in the province's construction industry. Close to 250,000 people have signed a petition calling on him to resign. And a week after losing a byelection in a riding the Liberals had held for 25 years, Charest thought it was time to go on television to tell host Guy A. Lepage he's not going away anytime soon.
Funnily enough, that's exactly what Jean Charest told Tim Duboyce when he guest-hosted The House back in July. Take a listen:
