UPDATED - Orders of the Day - A funny thing happened on the way to Worse Than Outremont ...

Well, that turned out to be a far more interesting night on the byelection circuit than pretty much anyone was expecting, didn't it? So interesting, in fact -- not one but two races that stubbornly remained too close to call until after midnight -- that it has thrown the OotD production schedule into turmoil.

Since I'd already committed myself to liveblogging that much-anticipated early morning appearance by Christian Paradis at Government Operations, today's lookahead will, alas, be slightly delayed.

I'm hoping to have this post up to date with a full list of events for today later this morning, ideally by 10am or so, but it all depends on how long that committee meeting goes. Sorry about that -- can't be helped.

Oh, and don't worry -- if any major developments break over the next hour or so, I'll post the details in the ticker, even if it requires tearing myself briefly away from riveting ministerial-wardrobe-related testimony. In the meantime, you can follow the committee liveblog here

UPDATE: As I was typing just before we were rudely, if unavoidably, interrupted by the early risers at Government Operations ...

Clearly at least a little bit chuffed by his party's surprise victory in Winnipeg North, not to mention what was, in the end, a fairly honourable defeat in Vaughan, at least relative to the more dire predictions leading into yesterday's vote, Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff will scrum with reporters in the Foyer this morning -- as, according to the advisory that just hit my inbox, will Citizenship and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney in the very same venue just fifteen minutes later.  Oddly, NDP Leader Jack Layton has not yet alerted the media to an upcoming availability; then again, he was in British Columbia yesterday, so he might be enroute back to the Hill to comfort his surely downcast caucus in the wake of last night's results. Then again, there's no reason why another New Democrat can't be dispatched to deliver talking points on his behalf. Let the post-byelection spinwars begin!

That, of course, means yet another delay for OotD -- which is threatening to become OotYD at this point --since ongoing events take priority; I'll monitor both news conferences if I can, and feed the highlights into the ticker.
