The Ultimate Speaker's Parade is coming to Parliament Hill!

Well, pretty close, at any rate. From tomorrow until Saturday, our very own Peter Milliken will be hosting the 9th meeting of the Speakers of the Lower Houses of the G8, as they "exchange ... experience, opinions and information, primarily on parliamentary matters such as the role of parliaments and the organization of parliamentary functions in a rapidly changing world." 

Sadly, as far as I can tell, most of the discussion will take place behind closed doors, which is a pity, because can you imagine what wonderfully wonky liveblogging fodder such a conversation would inevitably produce? Particularly since at least one of the speakers in attendance may soon find himself faced with a politically thorny and almost certainly precedent-setting question of privilege at home? But alas, after brief, open-to-the-media welcoming remarks from Milliken, it's off to the inner sanctum - in camera.
