The lingo at CANSEC arms show in Ottawa

From my colleague, Kathleen Hunt:

It was all about the guns, not roses, this morning at the military CANSEC arms show in Ottawa.

Defence Minister Peter MacKay had been scheduled to speak and deliver his long awaited announcement on shipbuilding. That did not happen. Instead organizers were left scrambling to find a speaker for the many trade show folk in attendance.

They hope to shake loose some connections and contracts.

The language of an arms show remains unique. What's for sale? HFI pyrotechnics for military use, power conversion, terra tactical footwear, blast and ballistic resistant shelters, modular soldier-centric ISR systems, ultra electronics, modular military fuel, modular expandable armour. What?

You can dress it up I suppose but it would seem guns and tanks says it all.
