Religion and Politics mixing it up on P & P
- June 4, 2010 1:00 PM |
- By Ryan Hicks
It is a frank and open conversation between NDP MP Pat Martin and Canada's Opus Dei Vicar Monsignor Fred Dolan.
Last week, Msgr. Dolan held a luncheon on Parliament Hill where he spoke to MPs, Senators, and staffers.
Last Friday, Martin told reporters after question period that Opus Dei gives him the "creeps."
So, are Martin's comments an example of religious intolerance?
We brought both sides together to talk it out with Evan. Sometimes, mixing religion and politics results in heated and emotional debate where rational conversation can get lost.
But what ensued on Power and Politics was what some would say was a raw, real conversation, absent of spin. Something we don't often see in politics, and something maybe we should see more of.
