Attention PrivilegeWatchers: This is not a drill, so be sure to check back at 3pm for full coverage as House Speaker Peter Milliken delivers his ruling. Apparently, it will take him between 45 minutes and an hour to do so -- and no, we won't get copies in advance, so we're just going to have to sit quietly and pay attention, although he may tip his hand as to his ultimate conclusions before the very last page.

Anyway, feel free to use this as an open thread in the meantime -- and be sure to check the PrivilegeWatch archives for your background pleasure.

UPDATE: Here's the full text of the ruling for your mulling pleasure:

LEE Ruling 2010-04-27 English (2)

THE CHIEF LAW OFFICER OF CANADA RESPONDS: A brief -- I mean, really, really brief -- statement from Justice Minister Rob Nicholson in the Foyer, in which he noted that they would be reviewing the ruling "carefully," and "welcome the possibility of a compromise while respecting our legal obligations." Meanwhile, the following preliminary talking points have surfaced, courtesy of the usual unnamed Conservative sources:

• We welcome the possibility of a compromise that respects our legal obligations.

 • The Government will not knowingly break the laws that were written and passed by Parliament.

• Our Government will not compromise Canada's national security nor will it jeopardize the lives of our men and women in uniform.
