TruthInSentencingWatch: Liveblogging Justice Minister Rob Nicholson on C-25
Okay, so technically, the minister did sort of blow the surprise with his op-ed in today's National Post - spoiler alert: the new sentencing rule came into effect yesterday, just like his office told me it would when I asked for an update on the status of the bill last month -- but that's not going to deter me from liveblogging his press conference this afternoon. He is the country's chief law officer, after all. (Speaking of which, I wonder if he's responded to that letter from NDP MP Paul Dewar on whether his government will comply with the House order to produce unredacted detainee-related documents?)
