Canada talks tough to Karzai

cannon-afghan.jpgForeign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon revealed in an interview on Power & Politics with Evan Solomon that he will be talking to his Afghan counterpart to convey Canada's concern over Afghan President Hamid Karzai's decision to give himself the power to appoint all members of that country's Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC).

The ECC is the independent body that oversaw all complaints into voter fraud during the presidential election last year.

"I'll be talking to [President Karzai's] Minister of Foreign Affairs. I'll be speaking with our colleagues [fellow members of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan]."
