Amnesty International, via counsel, has written to the Attorney General asking for permission to disclose the Richard Colvin memos contained on the CD that Amnesty's secretary general showed reporters at Tuesday's news conference

A written copy of this request is here.

The government originally disclosed these documents to the Military Police Complaints Commission. The memos have been vetted and redacted by the government.

When Amnesty International received them earlier this week, its representatives agreed to an undertaking of confidentiality, so they cannot reveal what they know these documents contain.

The Attorney General's office has written to Amnesty International to say the request has been taken under advisement and a response will be coming shortly.
