Our Kady has alluded to this, but here are some more details about what's going on in the House today as far as the timing for the HST motion vs. the CN back-to-work legislation... courtesy of my colleague Margo McDiarmid, who's been working her phone and berry this morning and tirelessly updating things on CBC NN:
- The House will deal with the ways and means motion that will pave the way for the changes to excise tax and the HST "later this week", according to the Government House Leader's office.
- The House will debate the parameters of fast-tracking the CN back-to-work bill at noon today.
- The government wants to limit the length of this debate/scrutiny of bill so it will be passed quickly.
- That CN debate is expected to last until Question Period, and possibly spill over to tomorrow.
- The back-to-work legislation itself will be introduced after Question Period today. (*** Except... we have to factor in a possible delay due to the privilege complaints Kady's tracking -- those take centre stage after QP.)
