'Denis Coderre' registered as Montreal political party
Political opponents call on Liberal MP to step down in face of anticipated mayoral bid
Denis Coderre might still be a member of the federal Parliament but he already has a name registered for a municipal political party in Montreal.
The Liberal MP plans to make an announcement on May 16 after having entertained suspense for months about his anticipated run for mayor.
While that official announcement is still three weeks away, he's already got a party name.
The website for Quebec's elections watchdog says the following name is already registered, and pending authorization: "Denis Coderre Team For Montreal."
In Ottawa, Coderre's political opponents are saying enough's enough and he should just quit his federal seat already.
The former immigration minister is believed to have been planning a mayoral run for months.
