Pass What is Reality Check?
Categories:
It is not uncommon in the thrust of partisan debate for facts to go astray or substance to get lost in a tangle of mistaken assumptions. That's when Reality Check steps in.
CBC journalists endeavour daily to separate fact from the merely self-serving in their political reporting. But sometimes, we know, we have to delve deeper.
That's why CBC News has assembled a team of reporters and researchers to examine more closely the statements, accusations, election promises and policy platforms of our main federal parties and leading politicians over the course of this campaign.
This is a project we have done in past elections and our goal now, as then, is not to take sides but to provide, as clearly as we can, historical context and fact-based analysis - with all the attending inconsistencies - of what we read and hear.
We anticipate we will have plenty on our plate. But if you have subjects you would like us to examine more closely feel free to pass them along to us at yournews@cbc.ca.
The pass/fail icons you see represent our interpretations of whether a political statement passes muster.
But of course you are welcome to add your own take to our Reality Check reports, in the goal of informing, as best we can, our fellow Canadians.
