Political History

In 2008, Conservative Garry Breitkreuz won with 68 per cent of the vote.

Breitkreuz has held this seat since 1993, running under the Reform/Canadian Alliance and then the Conservative banner. His 2006 win over New Democrat Jason Dennison was by a margin of more than three to one.

Breitkreuz's predecessor, Lorne Nystrom of the NDP, held this riding for 25 years, having first been elected in 1968 at age 22. Nystrom later served in Regina-Qu'Appelle, but was defeated in 2004.
