This rural riding is located in eastern Quebec on the banks of the lower St. Lawrence River. It borders on both New Brunswick and the United States. The riding contains the regional county municipalities of Les Basques, Rimouski-Neigette and Témiscouata.

In the redistribution of 2004, 73 per cent of Rimouski-Neigette-et-la-Mitis was combined with 37 per cent from Kamouraska-Rivière-du-Loup-Témiscouata-Les Basques. The riding was renamed Rimouski-Témiscouata, a name it had held from 1980 to 1996. This riding was established as Rimouski in 1867. The 1996 redistribution kept 74 per cent of the riding and added 27 per cent from Matapédia-Matane. The name was changed to Rimouski-Mitis by a private member's bill and to Rimouski-Neigette-et-la-Mitis in 2000.

Population: 84,453 (2006 census; a decrease of 0.1% since 2001)
