The Conservatives and the Liberals managed to hold on to their two seats on Monday, so the make-up of the House of Commons will stay the same for the time being.

But a few storylines emerged from the results.

Justin Trudeau's candidate fell short of pulling an upset in the Manitoba riding of Brandon-Souris, and that allowed the Conservatives to keep what used to be a safe by a small margin.

Tom Mulcair and the NDP saw their support go down in three of the four ridings.
