Brad Lavigne was national campaign director for the NDP's breakthrough 2011 election success and former principal secretary to the party's late leader, Jack Layton.

In his new book, Building the Orange Wave: The Inside Story Behind the Historic Rise of Jack Layton and the NDP, Lavigne describes the NDP's rise to Official Opposition status.

Lavigne spoke with Evan Solomon, host of CBC News Network's Power & Politcsabout Layton, the "Orange Wave" and the writing of the book. Watch the interview above.
