Alcohol: More harmful than crack or heroin?

Alcohol is more harmful than heroin and crack, according to a new study co-authored by the former U.K. chief drugs adviser. Professor David Nutt's paper looked at 20 different drugs and ranked them based on harm to the user and to society. Alcohol made the top of the list, followed by heroin. Cocaine and tobacco ranked fifth and sixth respectively, while drugs like ecstasy and LSD were among the least harmful, according to the study.
