Canadian music: What's the greatest single of all-time?

American Woman, the Guess Who's 1970 smash hit, is the greatest Canadian single of all-time, according to a new book released Thursday.

Author Bob Mersereau polled nearly 800 musicians, journalists, managers, promoters, label executives, retailers and music fans to compile The Top 100 Canadian Singles, which spans more than six decades of material.

The second greatest single was Heart of Gold by iconic songsmith Neil Young, followed by The Weight by The Band, Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams, and Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.

See below for the book's top 10 Canadian singles.
