This Friday kicks off a busy box office weekend as three highly anticipated films hit theatres, including Sylvester Stallone's action blockbuster The Expendables and the movie adaptation of the comic series Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, which stars Canada's Michael Cera.
Also making its debut is Eat Pray Love, Sony's big-screen version of Elizabeth Gilbert's bestselling memoir starring Oscar winners Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem.
Industry experts predict that The Expendables, an old-school, shoot-'em-up flick featuring cameos from numerous Hollywood tough guys including Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, will mow down the competition and win the opening weekend battle with an expected gross in the $30-million-plus US range.
Eat Pray Love and Scott Pilgrim are expected to rake in around $20 million and $15 million this weekend respectively.
