Monarchy: Should Canada cut its ties?

Australia's prime minister says the country should end its ties to the British monarchy after Queen Elizabeth's reign.
Julia Gillard said Tuesday that Australians have "deep affection" for the Queen but she should be Australia's final monarch. Gillard's centre-left Labor Party has long held that the country should dump the British monarch as its head of state and become a republic.
Her comments come just days before a contentious national election.
