The Australian government will require tobacco companies to use logo-free packaging on their cigarette packages beginning July 1, 2012.
That means manufacturers won't be allowed to use any branding, such as logos, promotional text or colourful pictures on cigarette packs, and they will have to display graphic health warnings.
This stance on smoking is believed to be the toughest legislation of its kind in the world. Should Canada adopt a similar ban on cigarette packages?
