Leading up to Sunday's awards presentation, it's time for Oscar pools and predictions.
The best picture category is the academy's ultimate stamp of approval, but its choice of winner is far from predictable. Analysing the factors that went into previous winners, such as how popular, timely, sentimental or successful a film was, can help increase your accuracy in picking a winner.
This year, there are 10 nominated films to choose from instead of the usual five. Tell us why you are backing your choice for best picture.
Take our poll: Which film do you think will win best picture?
(This poll is not scientific. It is based on readers' votes.)
