Conservative firebrand Ann Coulter, who is famous for her inflammatory statements about Muslims, liberals and gays, was in Canada on a three-stop university speaking tour, ending at the University of Calgary on Thursday night.

Coulter cancelled an appearance at the University of Ottawa on Tuesday night after 1,000 people tried to jam into the scheduled speech, while a few hundred protested loudly outside.

Coulter said she will file a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission over the way she was treated by the University of Ottawa. Before Coulter's speech, provost Francois Houle sent her an email reminding her about Canada's hate laws. Coulter contends Houle's email sparked the protest and threats of physical violence against her.
