Wind Turbines: How close are you willing to live to turbines to benefit/green your community?

According to a study financed by the Canadian and American wind energy association, giant wind turbines pose no health risk. However, critics still insist turbines can have devastating impacts.

Noise and vibration from giant wind turbines may be annoying but pose no adverse effect to human health, the industry-funded study found.

Critics who maintain the electricity-generating turbines disrupt the sleep and even the heart rhythms of those who live near them aren't convinced. John Laforet, president of Wind Concerns Ontario, said there are more than 100 people in Ontario alone who have complained about adverse effects from wind turbines. The most common complaint is sleep disruption. Critics dismiss the study as worthless, industry-financed spin.
