Windsor's Tea Party to cash in on name

Windsor musicians The Tea Party are considering selling their website to the U.S. political movement for a reported $1 million.

A Windsor-area band called The Tea Party is getting ready to cash in on its name, after more than 20 years in the music business.
The band, which formed in Windsor in the 1990s, has drawn the attention of the upstart U.S. political movement with the same name.
According to various reports, the American populist movement is looking to purchase the band's website domain, which the band registered in 1993, for as much as $1 million US.
A band member told Bloomberg Businessweek magazine recently that it was mulling the sale of Teaparty.com, which promises "No politics, just rock 'n' roll," because of the confusion between the band and the political organization.
“So much damage has been done to our name by the political movement that we’re considering selling,” Tea Party bassist Stuart Chatwood told the magazine.
The band embarked on a Canadian tour this summer and referred media requests to its record company, which was not available for comment.
