Only a month after the federal election Prime Minister Stephen Harper is headed back to the polls — to help name his new cat.
More than 2,000 poll respondents are backing the name 'Stanley' for the grey tabby amid a Stanley Cup drive by the Vancouver Canucks. Facebook Harper posted a note on his official Facebook page asking people to pick a name for his family's new grey tabby.
The options include "Stanley," "Smokie" and "Gandalf."
The Harpers are known cat lovers and supporters of a foster program at the Ottawa Humane Society.
They have provided foster care to numerous cats in the past at 24 Sussex Drive. The poll closes on Monday.
"Happy to have a new Harper at 24, he's a grey tabby and needs a name, vote for your favourite," the Facebook post said.
People who posted comments offered their own name suggestions, including "Majority," "Tory" and "Canuck."
