Amazon.com unveiled a new tablet that is cheaper and lighter than the RIM Playbook and Apple's iPad, increasing competition in the attention-getting field.
It's the $199 US price of Amazon's Kindle Fire that will turn heads. It's not yet available in Canada, where the Playbook is available on sale for $399 at Staples and Best Buy (regular price $499) and the iPad sells for $519 ($499 in the U.S.).
The Kindle Fire cannot take photos or video, or record sound, things Playbooks and iPads can do.
The comparison chart looks at the lowest priced current models of the three tablets.
