Hundreds of Canadian children were hurt by Scouts leaders who were "discreetly removed" from the organization over sexual abuse concerns. The CBC has examined cases where, regardless of allegations or even proof of sexual abuse, there is no evidence Scouts officials called in police to investigate. In a February 2012 interview with CBC's The Fifth Estate, chief commissioner of Scouts Canada Steve Kent said the organization and an independent auditor are now scouring their records for all unreported cases, and are finally handing them over to police.
