MAP: Drought emergency in the Horn of Africa

A widespread drought, along with rising food and fuel prices, has spurred a food crisis in East Africa, according to the United Nations. Malnutrition rates in Somalia are among the highest in the world, and famine has killed tens of thousands of people in the country. Hundreds of thousands of people have sought shelter in refugee camps in Kenya as aid officials struggle to meet the growing demands. Hover over the yellow markers to read more about each country.
