B.C. weather woes

British Columbia has been hit with storms, rain, power outages and floods in November. Over the past few weeks, two million residents in the Vancouver area have been under boil-water advisory and more communities in Vancouver Island are also told to be wary of their drinking water.

The area has been placed under a boil water alert. Check links below for updates. The city was cut off by highway closures. It had heavy rain on Nov. 15. This area was hit by a major storm that cut power and caused flooding in many homes. Trees blocked major roads in the community and also in nearby Qualicum Beach.

This watershed accounts for about 20 per cent of Greater Vancouver Regional District's drinking water. The Coquitlam Dam is owned BC Hydro, which provides water to the GVRD.

This watershed is in the North Shore Mountains and accounts for 40 per cent of the Greater Vancouver Regional District's drinking water. It can be the primary source because it is located in high elevation. This watershed is about 20,000 hectares.

Capilano reservoir

This reservoir was taken off line on Nov. 24. Check this page for updates. The Greater Vancouver Regional District operates the Cleveland Dam on the Capilano Watershed in North Vancouver. It supplies 40 per cent of the region's drinking water. This watershed is about 20,000 hectares.
