Major recent recalls in Canada and the U.S.

Almost every day the Canadian Food Inspection Agency posts an alert about a food recall, frequently after store shelves have had foods that could potentially sicken or kill. Bacteria like listeria, salmonella and e. coli are often the reason for a recall.
The costs, for health care for the victims and product losses for the companies, have been huge. Sometimes the company involved does not survive. Since food frequently crosses the Canada- U.S. border, here's a look at some of the large food recalls in the two countries in the last few years.
